Windows 10 'Free Upgrade' Rule Changes

Amidst controversy after controversy, last month Microsoft did something everyone wanted: it promised to change the Windows 10 free upgrade rules for the better. Out would go the ludicrous situation of forcing users to literally upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8 for a free copy (a real pain for anyone hoping to start with a clean install) and in would come the ability to activate Windows 10 simply using Windows 7 and Windows 8 keys. Well now Microsoft has followed through…
As part of the massive Windows 10 ‘Threshold 2’ release last week (which has its own pros and cons) upgraded users can now simply search for ‘Activate’ in Cortana and on the Activation page it brings up there is the option to register a product key.

The lengthier path is: Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Change Product Key

The key can be from any eligible copy of Windows 7 or Windows 8, which means Home or Professional editions (Enterprise and Windows RT are excluded) which have not already had Windows 10 installed on top of them.
Windows 10 will also accept eligible Windows 7 and Windows 8 product keys during the setup process for a clean install which is a great time saver. Previously the only option was: 1. Upgrade your Windows copy to Windows 10 (this created a ‘digital entitlement’), 2. Format your computer, 3. Install Windows 10 again (digital entitlement recognises previously registered hardware). Yes, it was crazy. Interestingly Microsoft’s own support website hasn’t been updated yet to reflect these changes. At the time of publication, when you visit the Activation Page all you will find is a guide telling you to call a phone number if your digital activation fails. Hopefully this will be modified soon.

Of course, given the positive nature of this change, the obvious question to ask is: Why isn’t Microsoft shouting about it from the rooftops? And here I think there are some less honourable reasons…
Firstly, Microsoft would still strongly prefer users to upgrade as originally intended to create PCs based on digital entitlements not keys. Digital entitlements are hardware locked making it harder for users to shift registration to a new computer. Secondly, accepting Windows 7 and Windows 8 keys potentially reinvigorates a black market for them. Thirdly, Microsoft doesn’t yet have all the answers for its product key enforcement plans.

For example, outstanding questions include:

Can Windows 10 be activated using a valid Windows 7 or Windows 8 key which has already been used on a different machine?
Would the above course of action invalidate Windows 7/8/ invalid on that machine?
Can a Windows 7/8/ keys be deregistered from a Windows 10 machine in future to upgrade a different PC – just as Windows keys previously worked?
Can valid keys be used after 29 July 2016 when the Windows 10 free upgrade offer is scheduled to end?
Of course all these will need answering and they will become pressing as advanced users modify their PCs, mainstream users change machines and the secondhand market for Windows 10 machines gains momentum.
Still all we know right now is Microsoft has promised, and delivered upon, a practical and highly necessary Windows 10 change which should make life on the OS a little easier for everyone. Coupled with a further 10 great secret features in the Threshold 2 release, it’s a start…

I DON'T WANT 10

REMOVAL WINDOWS 10

Follow these direction

Browse the root of your system drive, and you may find one or two sizable directories -- $Windows.~BT, and $Windows.~WS. These are hidden folders that contain the Windows install files (make sure Windows is set to show hidden files if the folders aren't visible). While you can just delete large folders, the best way to remove them and regain space is by using the built in Disk Cleanup tool.
Click Start and search for Disk Cleanup. Right-click the application that appears, and select Run as administrator. Select the drive you want to clean up -- this should be your system drive -- and click OK.
Click on Clean up system files, and select the drive again. In the list you’ll see Temporary Windows installation files. If this contains a sizable number of files, select it and click OK to remove the contents. This will clean out everything in the $Windows.~BT folder, but not in the $Windows.~WS directory (Disk Cleanup doesn’t target this particular folder at the moment). You can delete it manually though.
As for preventing the files being downloaded again, go to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall or change a program. Click View installed updates on the left. Use the search box to locate the following updates: KB3035583, KB2952664, and KB3021917 (Windows 7) or KB3035583 and KB2976978 (Windows 8). Right-click each one and select Uninstall. When done, go to System and security in the Control Panel, and select Windows Update > Check for updates. Right-click each of the above updates in turn and select Hide update.

Windows 10 Browser Compatibility War

Browser War's

Windows 10 has both the Explorer 11 and the latest Edge.
Edge has issues on some websites and that can be quit annoying. You be unable to browse certain web pages and you become limited. The good news is that windows 11 still has full browsing functions and it even has it moments.
Microsoft Windows has introduced Cortana which is a voice recognition app inside of Windows 10 which is an OK feature. It works well with Edge when you seeking out information online they tend to work well together. It also comes in handy when you want to open up other programs like Word, Excel or another office programs. Just say 'open' and which program your are wanting to use.
Google Chrome still has the best Favorites or Bookmarks process of any browsers out here. However there is one small detail it is still under attack by malware shopper bugs that will trip you up every now and again. The fix is to start Task Manger and end the Chrome process. Bummer... There are several other browsers pushing to rank with these, like Firefox, Opera jut to name a couple but there is one that is not highly recognized and it is called Yandex.
Yandex has security protocols that are built into this formidable browser are hard to beat! None of the above browsers can even come close however one would think so. It imports your bookmarks or favorites from all the above browser with ease. For me the one draw back is the start-up of the browser a bit slow but once it is open it is a dream. This browser has many cool functions it is worth looking into if you like secure browsing.

These are the top rated browsers use all four of these together for variety in your browsing experience.

Windows 10 Upgrade TIPS

For most part windows 10 upgrade is forgiving and will leave all you current programs and files intact, if you have for gotten to back and save all your files. This is how you prevent the loose of all your when the Upgrade runs.

When you are prompted to run the upgrade just simply follow through doing the recommend each time you are prompted then sit back and relax for this will take some time to complete. Once you it has completed there are many ways you can choose to back up your laptop or desktop computer.

My best practice is to purchase an external drive with at least a 1Gig of storage space the drive should be USB 2.0 or 3.0 connectable for your computer. Alternative methods are online storage like Carbonite not to mention others as well, you will have to make this choice which best serves you at the time.

These are the back-up drives I highly recommend they still support the USB2.0 along with the newer 3.0 USB drive at reasonable prices. Chose the color you like today make sure your Laptop and Desktop computer are backed up and all your important image, music, and document files are all in a safe place and in your position today.
Get yours today!   HERE external USB drive

TIP...
The best practice would be to backup your laptop or desktop before you being the upgrade.

There are times that we get excited and get in that bit of a hurry or new is just OK to get started. I also want to mention that the recommend upgrade can be incompatible with some of the programs in the previous versions of the operating system that you have and Windows 10 does not play well with them this is why I recommend highly backing up before you begin your upgrade to Windows 10.

As of July 29th 2015 the countdown has begun you 1year to complete this *free upgrade of Windows 10.

Windows10 GOTCHA!!!!!!!!

Good Morning!

WAKE UP CALL ALL MICSOFT WINDOW USERES...

What you do not know!
Windows 10 was released on July 29th and the new software is now being installed on computers and laptops around the world for those who reserved this great and wonderful deal by Microsoft.

Bad news for everyone who has older computers 2 to 5 years old Win10 will not work correctly so I was informed.
I called in yesterday about the camera app not functioning after hours of research on this issue with no solutions.
Here is the error I was getting 0x200F424A (0x80070491).
The Camera app will not function ever!
The first tech at Microsoft went through all the same procedures that I had already preformed with no resolution.

Today 8/4/2015 1:35 pm PST I received a call back from Microft's Elite team of technicians (Timothy) He went right into my system information and right to the BIOS information. WHY on earth would he do that I was asking myself.

GUYS AND GALS here is the GOTCAHA....

Microsoft has put the Windows flag on the right hand corner by the clock anticipating Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users to receive the FREE copy of Windows 10 to be installed. You receive a confirmation email that states your system is compatible for the new operating system.

Here is the CATCH! In the system information section on your laptop or desktop computer they look at the bios manufacturer date if anyone has 2008 you are going to lose the full functions of windows 10 even if 2010 is the production date as well you lose the full functon of Windows 10.

SO PLEASE BEWARE!

Best recomandaton is NOT to switch unless you know what you are doing, stay with the system you have.  If you have a 2 year old computer you may be safe to run this oppperating system but I am not going to sweare by it.

I am going to run it till it no longer works then I will return to my old Windows 7 Pro....

Windows 10

Windows 10 Testing

Good day everyone!
Today I just threw -up my arms and said what the heck!
I installed Windows 10 preview to giver a go so far so good.
Most laptops will get a new windows icon on the lower right corner by the (time and date) I did not get it on my desktop.
Also you will need to note; it only appears if you have your Windows updates turned on.

In my situation it took 6 hours to completely install and set-up my system. I'm sure you will not have this issue on a laptop.

Microsoft did this for Window 8 release. Their attempt for this launch was dismal for desktop computers.
Guys Windows 10 is testing out GREAT for all users of this software by the end of July I suspect we will have most or all of the kinks worked out. There are a lot of new and improved function within the software and my favorite is "I'm Cortana."
In order to use this function you will need a cam with a built in mic (preferred) or a headset she is voice active. Laptops today come video came ready so no worries.
For anyone who will attempt the download of this new version I HIFGHLY recommend backing up all your photos, document files, music or any other import information to you before you begin the download of Windows 10.
When you back up I would also like to suggest that you get USB flash drives 8gig to 16gig+ to put all you information on, then all you need to do is load it back onto your computer when you have finish the download of Windows 10.

If you would like you can purchase your USB Flash drives here before you begin.

Always make your own backups~

Sundays

Welcome to my BLOG 3/15/2015 CRAYZNESS
Today I have spent  a good portion of my day looking for FANTASTIC tools  the help everyone with bettering their performance and fixing issues.
Let be clear I have used all the free version of these software platforms and have tested them using both the full versions and *Free versions for my self so I give you the best of these software tools.
NOTE: If you like these tolls and want more bells and whistle it will cost $$ this I will leave totally  up to you! But all of them are TOP notch!

Here is were you can read and downland all free version of these system tools.
THEY BEGIN HERE:
Top Free Software Picks: System Maintenance Utilities:
Auslogics Disk Defrag Free

Windows

Soluto
Windows

Soluto is a little different from the rest—it's more of an IT tool you use to manage up to three computers (such as your parent's or kids' PCs). It's all cloud-based and you can pay a monthly fee to manage a lot more than three computers. Even then Soluto doesn't let you do a big cleanup of a PC like other utilities here, but it will give you a lot of information on what's happening in each system and help you do some upgrades to select pieces of software.

Eraser
Windows

Eraser doesn't tune up Windows as much as it clears the way for your hard drive to work better. It does this by over-writing the "empty" areas of a drive you thought were deleted. Even if you empty the recycle bin, the data might still be recoverable, for example. Eraser makes sure it isn't, and that also helps with hard disk performance.

Glary Utilities
Windows ' Android

The free version of Glary Utilities (the Pro edition is $40) offers "one-click maintenance of a PC. You pick all the functions you want to run, click once, and the utility does the work. The Android version is much the same. You have to run it manually, only the Pro edition works in the background. The utility works great, just beware when you install it on Windows, the check boxes will try to get you to install a toolbar that will take over the search on your browser.

JetClean and JetBoost
Windows

JetClean would put itself up against CCleaner and SystemCare and others any day. It offers a complete performance enhancing clean and registry fixes all from one light piece of software. Couple it with JetBoost to get even better performance—JetBoost will shut down everything but your most essential apps, at least temporarily, something many gamers will appreciate.

Speccy
Windows

Speccy won't clean up a thing, but this handy utility from Piriform will give you plenty of one thing:  Information. Speccy looks at your PC's internal systems and provides a report on exactly what you're running—processor, drives, RAM, graphics, OS – all info you'll have on hand when needed. It's invaluable when making tech support calls.

Advanced SystemCare 7 Free
Windows

Not too many products try to take on the mash-up of system maintenance and malware/virus monitoring, but IObit takes on that task with SystemCare. Even this free version (Pro is $20 for 1 year for 3 PCs) offers basic protection, basic optimization, and automatic privacy cleaning whenever you log in. Check out PCMag's review of version 6. Mac users might want to check out IObit's MacBooster.

Iolo System Mechanic Free
Windows
Don't be thrown off by the price on the linked page: System Mechanic Free is still free, but it is a stripped down version of the more powerful $40 version. For what you get, however, Windows XP to Windows 8 users will be pleased: there's a registry tuner, startup optimizer, PC cleanup, shortcut repair tool, even a fix for bad Internet connections.

Look for more NEW and innovating ways to keep you Computers and Laptops running more efficiently check back and SHARE with others.
